NFL Weather Forecast Week 5: Will heavy rainfall impact fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em decisions? image

If you caught any of Jets vs. Broncos last week, you probably got a feeling for why it's so important for fantasy managers to monitor the weather of NFL games. Heavy rain and/or wind can significantly impact the performance of teams and how they choose to operate their offense.

Before we get into the Week 5 forecasts, here's a reminder that if you have any questions about sports weather or how the weather could impact play (and, potentially, your fantasy, DFS, and gambling decisions), don't hesitate to reach out to RotoGrinders' meteorologist Kevin Roth on Twitter (@KevinRothWx) or check out the hourly NFL weather forecasts on RotoGrinders. To take your game to the next level, subscribe to RotoGrinders' exclusive WeatherEdge tool and see how different weather conditions have impacted historical scoring.

Note: If a game isn't mentioned below, it's because it doesn't have 10+-mph winds, a 20+-percent chance of precipitation, or extreme temperatures in the forecast.

NFL weather forecast and updates Week 5

Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears

Per Kevin Roth: "Dry, with winds 10-15mph sustained and gusts between 20-30mph. This is not a "impacts the entire game" kind of wind, but a few deeper throws or longer FG's could get blown off track."

Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals

Kevin Roth is currently forecasting a possible shower during this AFC North matchup. His forecasts has the chance of rain at 31 percent during the later stages of the game. This will be a situation to stay on top of as the game draws closer.

Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars

UPDATE: Kevin Roth expects there to be some rain during this game. He expects there to be scattered storms throughout the Jacksonville area which will likely fall over the stadium at some point.

Per Kevin Roth: "A disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico will soak Florida with rains through the weekend. The bulk of that rain will likely be south of Jax, but good chances for rain remain during Sunday's gametime. Any rain would be problematic, especially for the struggling Jaguars passing offense, as well as could increase turnover potential for both teams."

Dallas Cowboys at Pittsburgh Steelers

UPDATE: There will be a storm that passes through Pittsburgh around the time of kickoff. This could lead to downpours and potentially lightning that could delay the game's start.

Per Kevin Roth: "Scattered showers are possible for Sunday Night Football. As of now the intensity looks pretty low, so I'm not expecting a high-impact rain event, but I'll keep an eye on it."
