The New York Giants may have their chance to select a franchise player during the 2025 NFL Draft.
With three weeks remaining in the regular season, the Giants are locked in a tight race with the Las Vegas Raiders for the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft.
Even if the Giants don't land the top overall pick, they may have a chance to take a quarterback whom the front office has kept a close eye on.
Throughout his Heisman finalist campaign in 2024, Miami star Cam Ward was "heavily scouted" by the Giants, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
Ward seems like a strong fit for the Giants even if there is plenty of uncertainty in terms of whether the current regime will remain intact this offseason.
While Colorado's Sheduer Sanders is also high on the priority list for the Giants, Ward would be a solid consolation prize with the No. 2 pick.
The All-American completed 67.4% of his passes for 4,123 yards, 36 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He led all FBS schools in touchdown passes in 2024.
With Malik Nabers putting up strong numbers during his rookie campaign, the connection with Ward should be one that gets off the ground immediately. That's especially true considering Ward has made 37 starts over the last three seasons alone between Washington State and Miami — excluding his time at Incarnate Word.
It will be interesting to see what the offseason has in store for the Giants, but Ward is likely high on their list of potential long-term options under center.
