The Ravens squared off against the Steelers for the second time in the past month in Saturday night's wild-card matchup, and just like in Week 16, Baltimore dominated. Although the final score shows only a 28-14 victory, Baltimore was in control from its first drive.
Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin stressed the need to stop the run all week. He felt that his team had a good chance to win if the Steelers could slow down Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry.
The result? Jackson ran for 81 yards, while Henry rumbled for 186 with two touchdowns.
After Pittsburgh punted on its opening possession, Baltimore put together a 95-yard touchdown drive that lasted seven minutes. It was the first of four Ravens TD drives on Saturday night. All four went at least 70 yards, showing how easily they handled the Steelers' defense.
Pittsburgh couldn't get anything going in the first half. The Steelers didn't cross the 50-yard line in the entire half. Pittsburgh looked like a different team in the third quarter, though, with Russell Wilson leading a 98-yard scoring drive for the team's first points of the night. He then led a 70-yard drive that ended with a 36-yard touchdown to George Pickens.
This is where the Pittsburgh offense stalled. With the Ravens taking time off the clock, the Steelers had to go for it on 4th down with about seven minutes left in the game. After they didn't get it, Baltimore ran a 10-play drive that drained the clock and ended with Jackson kneeling out the win.
Pittsburgh goes into the offseason with a ton of questions. Wilson and Justin Fields are both free agents, as are running back Najee Harris and two wide receivers. Steelers Nation is tired of early playoff exits, so there is even more concern over whether Mike Tomlin will return.
Meanwhile, the Ravens are rolling into the divisional round. Baltimore will either play Houston or Buffalo next. The only thing negative for the Ravens is that Jackson took some big hits and was noticeably limping and wincing during the game. He likely won't miss any time, but he could be limited in practice.
