Everton vs. Chelsea lineups, team news

Everton trio Dwight McNeil, James Garner and Timothy Iroegbunam will miss the home game against the west Londoners and also face a battle to be clear for the league games over the holidays.

Dyche has updated that Garner (lower back) and Iroegbunam (foot) are "not on the grass yet, but are making progress". McNeil, meanwhile, has a flare-up of his knee.

Youssef Chermiti and Dele Alli remain long-term absentees, though the former could be back in January. And on-loan Armando Broja will be ineligible to play against his parent club.

Everton predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Pickford (GK) — Young, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko — Mangala, Gueye, Doucoure — Ndiaye, Calvert-Lewin, Harrison

Injured: McNeil, Garner, Iroegbunam, Chermiti, Alli
Suspended: None
Ineligable: Broja

The visitors remain uncertain over the availability of Romeo Lavia and Joao Felix. The duo have missed the past two games, and may be in line for returns at Everton.

However, with the schedule intensifying over Christmas, Maresca may well play it safe and plot their reintegration beginning with the Boxing Day derby against Fulham.

Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile remain some way from a return to action.

Chelsea are also without two players due to suspension. Marc Cucurella's second yellow card after the full-time whistle vs. Brentford rules him out. Renato Veiga is likely to step in.

Mykhailo Mudryk, meanwhile, is out of contention after failing a drugs test. More details on that situation can be read here.

Chelsea predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Sanchez (GK) — Gusto, Tosin, Colwill, Veiga — Caicedo, Fernandez — Madueke, Palmer, Sancho — Jackson

Injured: James, Fofana, Badiashile, Lavia, Felix
Suspended: Cucurella, Mudryk

Everton vs. Chelsea Prediction

Chelsea have a dismal record against Everton at Goodison Park in recent times, having only won one of their last six matches, losing the other five.

While the Toffees and Blues are on polar opposite ends of the League table, Everton aren't an easy team to break down, as seen in their performance against Arsenal. Chelsea will have to be at their clinical best, but they could emerge as victors by a thin margin.

  • Prediction: Everton 1-2 Chelsea
