The 12-team College Football Playoff begins with a standalone game on Friday night, as No. 7 Notre Dame hosts No. 10 Indiana. 

The remaining three first-round matchups will take place on Saturday, Dec. 21. 

Indiana and Notre Dame are set to a renew a dormant intrastate rivalry. The two teams have played just once since 1960. 

Veteran quarterback Kurtis Rourke and fiery head coach Curt Cignetti helped guide the Hoosiers to their best season in program history. The Fighting Irish, on the other hand, are set for their third CFP appearance, though it's their first under third-year head coach Marcus Freeman
