The Golden State Warriors could blow up their roster and enter rebuild mode sooner than many expected.

The storied franchise may send a four-time NBA champion and generational shooter to the San Antonio Spurs.

“Steph Curry should consider joining a new team this season in pursuit of a fifth NBA championship,” Sportskeeda’s Wes Laufert wrote Wednesday.

“NBA insider Kevin O'Connor has suggested the Denver Nuggets and the San Antonio Spurs.”

“A possible pairing in Denver with three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic is intriguing, and so is a pairing with superstar Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio.”

“The 2024 Rookie of the Year and current front-runner for Defensive Player of the Year stands at 7-foot-4 inches, making him one of the tallest players in the NBA.”

“Wembanyama uses his length on the defensive side of the floor as he averages close to four blocks a game, nearly 1.5 blocks more than Walker Kessler, who is second in the league (2.5 blocks per game).”

“The defensive prowess of Wembanyama, mixed with the all-time great shooting and offensive prowess of Curry, would be a game-planning nightmare for opposing coaches and would instantly catapult the team into contention.”

“It would also be a dream for most NBA fans to see those two stars on the same jersey competing for a ring.”

Curry may be more stressed than ever this season, but the future Hall of Fame guard continues to carry the load offensively for the organization.

Despite being considered an ‘old head’ in the NBA world, the Davidson product’s majestic ball handling and long-range shooting are visible nightly.

Curry averages 22.9 points on 44.9% field goal shooting and 41.6% three-point shooting in 32 contests.

The Spurs are likely a superstar away from serious Western Conference contention, giving them an incentive to pursue the 10-time All-Star.

Wembanyama would marvel at playing alongside a dynamic offensive threat and potential pick-and-roll partner in Curry.

However, Curry recently claimed he doesn’t plan to leave the Bay anytime soon, so the Spurs will probably have to pursue other assets.
