The New York Giants have just two games remaining until this disaster season comes to an end, but rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. has been a rare bright spot.
The fifth-round pick took over the starting role from veteran Devin Singletary in October, and he hasn't looked back.
Entering the Week 17 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, Tracy has taken 158 carries for 721 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns while adding 34 receptions for 263 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
The Giants released a rare Tuesday practice report given their day off for Christmas on Wednesday. Tracy was among the players listed as a non-participant — though it should be noted it was an estimated status as the Giants held a walkthrough.
The rookie is dealing with an ankle injury going into the penultimate matchup of the regular season as the Giants prepare to host the Indianapolis Colts.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. injury update
After being listed as a non-participant on the estimated practice report Tuesday, the exciting rookie running back was once again not practicing Thursday.
That's not a good sign for Tracy, who likely needs to log some sort of practice on Friday to have a chance to suit up this week.
Tracy has a chance to make some NFL history if he's not kept on the sideline with the injury. Malik Nabers (971 total yards) and Tracy (984 total yards) are within striking distance of becoming the first pair of rookie teammates to each go over 1,000 yards of offense since Reggie Bush and Marques Colston in 2006.
With that said, the Giants currently hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft so they're not in a position in which these rookies have to play through an injury — Nabers also hasn't practiced this week entering Friday due to a toe injury.
If Tracy can't play against the Colts, it's very likely that the aforementioned Singletary will take the reins in the backfield.
Either way, Friday's practice will be a big deal for the top pair of Giants rookies.
