More than 20 years after LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony battled in a legendary high school basketball showdown, their sons will meet in a highly anticipated matchup between Sierra Canyon and Long Island Lutheran.
The LuHi Holiday Invitational will feature Bryce James and Kiyan Anthony going head-to-head, but fans shouldn't expect any additional fireworks. Anthony has said that he views James as a family member, even calling the Sierra Canyon senior his "cousin."
"My pops and his pops played together on the Lakers," the Syracuse commit said on "The Kiyan Anthony Show" earlier this year. "It was a little different situation because they weren't rivals. They were really best friends, but the media is always going to make it seem like they got something against each other.
"It's not similar with me and Bryce, but everybody just wants one of us to be like, 'Oh, I'm way better than him.' We would never say that about each other. We just go out there and compete."
Beyond James and Anthony, other top prospects like Long Island Lutheran's Kayden Mingo and Sierra Canyon's Chris Nwuli will look to make an impact on Friday night.
