The opening game of the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff features an intrastate battle between Indiana and Notre Dame on Friday night.

Coach Curt Cignetti’s upstart Hoosiers (11-1) storm into South Bend as the No. 10 seed after a historic regular season. After a three-win campaign in 2023, Indiana set a new single-season program record with 11 wins.

Following a stunning, early-season loss to Northern Illinois, the Fighting Irish (11-1) rebounded in stride, winning their final 10 games. Notre Dame, the No. 7 seed, touts a fierce rushing attack behind quarterback Riley Leonard and running back Jeremiyah Love.

Notre Dame is 23-5-1 all time against Indiana, though the in-state foes have played just once since 1958.

The Fighting Irish are winless in two prior CFP appearances; the Hoosiers are making their maiden voyage in the dance.
