LIVE: Follow Penn State vs. SMU updates from 2024 CFP first round

The Nittany Lions are the sixth seed and will host No. 11 SMU on Saturday in the first round of the CFP. Drew Allar leads the charge under center, totaling nearly 2,900 passing yards in his third collegiate season.

He's connected with tight end Tyler Warren often. The 6-6 senior is having his best season to date, tallying 88 receptions for 1,062 yards and six touchdowns. It's more than double his yards and receptions from last year.

This marks Penn State's first appearance in the College Football Playoff, and it'll get SMU, which is also debuting in the postseason.

The Mustangs are also 11-2, losing a heartbreaker to Clemson in the ACC championship game. Both SMU and Clemson got into the playoff and will compete for a national championship.
