The Miami Dolphins' season will be on the line against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, and it sounds like they'll be facing an uphill battle without one of their top wide receivers.

Jaylen Waddle has been listed as "doubtful" with a knee injury.

Waddle sustained the injury during Week 15's matchup against the Houston Texans, leaving the game during the second quarter and not returning. He did not catch a pass.

Waddle has had an underwhelming season in general for Miami, with only 700 receiving yards and two touchdowns. However, he had been returning to form in the few games prior to his injury, catching nine passes for 99 yards the prior week against the New York Jets and eight passes for 144 yards two weeks before that against the New England Patriots.

Between the injuries to Waddle as well as Braxton Berrios and Grant DuBose -- who suffered a horrifying helmet-to-helmet hit last Sunday that knocked him unconscious -- the Dolphins are incredibly thin at receiver. River Cracraft and Malik Washington will need to step up as supporting pieces next to Tyreek Hill, provided Waddle is out.

Sunday's game is a true must-win for the Dolphins, who would fall to 6-9 with a loss and be three games out of the final Wild Card spot with only two weeks to go. With a victory, though, NFL.com would give them a nine-percent chance to make the postseason, which is slim but not impossible.

The Dolphins have struggled to overcome adversity all season long, whether it be injuries or adverse game conditions against quality opponents. If they can't win without Waddle this Sunday, their season will be effectively over.
