The Buffalo Bills have played in consecutive game of the year contenders over the last two weeks. They fell to the Los Angeles Rams 44-42 and then defeated the Detroit Lions 48-42 the following week. While Josh Allen and the Bills' offense have exploded and shot him into the MVP stratosphere, there is concern about the defense allowing 40+ points in consecutive games, especially with the postseason less than a month away.

Former NFL receiver and current ESPN analyst Andrew Hawkins made this observation, and is concerned about what it could lead to for the Bills.

"I think you should be concerned," Hawkins said. "Because the Bills offense is playing so well. Yeah, we talk about Josh Allen who is the MVP front-runner... but with as much production as you're getting from Josh Allen and the way this offense is playing, the fact that they've given up 40 points in back to back weeks [is concerning]."

Even though Buffalo got a big performance from defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who had his  best game of the season with 10 pressures and Buffalo had a much better outing than they did against the Rams, the Bills still allowed a ton of points for the second straight week, which is where a lot of the concern comes from. However, the Bills also got enough stops early to allow the offense to jump out in front to take a big lead that they never gave back. So yes, the points are a red flag, but their overall showing against the Lions was far greater than that against the Rams.
