Notre Dame and Indiana are two beneficiaries of the expanded College Football Playoff.
In previous seasons, just four teams would reach the playoffs, thus making it nearly impossible teams to crown themselves as national champions. Now, 12 teams have a bid to the playoffs.
Indiana makes its debut appearance following an 11-1 season. The Big Ten is extremely talented, featuring No. 1 Oregon, No. 6 Penn State, No. 8 Ohio State and No. 10 Indiana. All four teams made the College Football Playoff.
The Hoosiers will take on No. 7 Notre Dame in the first round. The Fighting Irish have been a staple in college football for decades, and they'll get another chance at a national title in 2024. They made the CFP in 2018 and 2020 but fell short both times.
The road is longer this time around since they'll need to win four games instead of two to raise the trophy. Notre Dame also earned an 11-1 season with its one blemish coming against Northern Illinois early in the season.
