For teams no longer competing in the NFL playoffs, the focus is on free agency and the NFL Draft as fans wonder how their team can be where the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders are currently sitting.
That would include the Los Angeles Chargers.
One of the many things fans look for when assessing their team's stock of upcoming draft picks is compensatory picks. The easiest way to explain how compensatory picks work is that they are awarded to teams that lost more valuable free agents than they acquired the year before. Picks are then awarded between rounds three and seven based on the value of those players who were lost.
Nick Korte of Over the Cap, who is notoriously accurate at predicting potential compensatory picks, gives the Chargers three for this coming draft.
Los Angeles Chargers projected 2025 compensatory picks
Round | Player Lost | Position |
5 | Kenneth Murray | LB |
6 | Gerald Everett | TE |
7 | Michael Davis | CB |
All three would be day three picks but the Chargers will gladly take them in exchange for the players listed, none of whom seemed like they were very missed this year in L.A.
The 2025 NFL Draft will be held April 24-26 and will take place at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
