It's only the quarterfinals, but the Division II football playoffs are serving up a tantalizing matchup Saturday as defending national champion Harding visits top-ranked Ferris State.

Unseeded Harding continues to roll, easily bypassing No. 2 Grand Valley State in the second round. The Bisons posted yet another 40-point outing, defeating the Lakers 44-26.

Ferris State is 11-1 with its only loss coming against Pittsburg State in the first game of the season. The Bulldogs have been on a roll since then, including last week's 78-17 second round victory over Central Oklahoma. The Bulldogs also had a 84-7 win this year. The team is an offensive juggernaut, averaging 44.8 points per game and almost 500 total yards per contest behind quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and Washington State transfer running back Kannon Katzer.

Harding can match that firepower, however, with an average of 51.3 points per game. The Bisons have topped 40 points in all but two games, one of which was their 17-13 loss to Ouachita Baptist. The other was a 34-7 victory against East Central (OK).

The defenses also match, with Harding allowing 9.5 points per game and Ferris State allowing 11.5 points. Once again, the Bison are on the road, but don't underestimate them. They upset Grand Valley State last week and can advance to the semifinals with a win this week.

Strap in for one of the best Division II matchups of the season. The Sporting News has all the details on how to watch Ferris State vs. Harding.
