With the injuries mounting for the Detroit Lions, some fans have developed a sky-is-falling mentality, even though the Lions are sitting with a 12-2 record that has them in first place in the NFC North and in the No. 1 seed entering Week 16.

It's hard to get too upset with the Lions fans who feel this way. After all, the franchise has had it rough throughout its history, so expecting the worst isn't exactly a surprising response to the plethora of key players Detroit has lost.

But the Lions are not subscribing to the negativity, as defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn revealed during the week.

"We're 12-2, we're in the playoffs. Why the hell is the sky falling?" Glenn asked, according to Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News. "Why should we sit back and wallow... it's dumb."

Lions right tackle Penei Sewell isn't buying into the sky-is-falling mentality, either, and he isn't taking kindly to the group of fans who feel that way.

“The real fans, they gonna stick down with whatever, man. That’s why I don’t really concern myself with the talk,” he said, per Kory Woods of MLive. “Because the real ones know we’re gonna find a way at the end of the day. And if you want to keep questioning, then go ahead and just hop off. You’ll see what happens.”

The negativity surrounding the Lions right now is mostly because of the injuries, but it also didn't help that Detroit lost its first game since September, and did so by giving up 48 points to a Super Bowl contender in the Buffalo Bills, a team that also sports an MVP candidate in Josh Allen, who went off versus Detroit.

The loss also allowed the Minnesota Vikings to inch closer in the NFC North, and the Philadelphia Eagles and Vikings to close the gap for the No. 1 seed in the conference.

Detroit will have an opportunity to fight off the outside negativity in a Week 16 matchup against the Chicago Bears at Ford Field.
