It didn't come right away like many were expecting but former five-star-+ USC wide receiver Zachariah Branch officially entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Across two seasons with the Trojans, Branch totaled 78 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns, while also flashing his versatility in the run game and on special teams.
Where Branch really made an impression was in the return game. Over his USC career, Branch returned 29 kickoffs for 547 yards and a touchdown, along with 29 punt returns for 406 yards and an additional score.
Despite USC’s struggles this past season, Branch remained a focal point of the offense, tying for the team lead in catches and finishing second in receiving yards. Known for his speed and game-changing ability, his departure creates a massive void for the Trojans and head coach Lincoln Riley.
His decision to enter the portal isn’t entirely a solo act, either, as his brother, Zion Branch, a defensive back for USC, will also be looking for a new home. However, Zachariah’s status and proven production make him one of the most coveted players in the portal this now.
Branch is poised to become one of the hottest names on the market. On3's Hayes Fawcett noted that Branch's finalist coming out of high school, along with USC, were Alabama, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
