Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's mom: Mary McLaughlin

Just like Willie, Mary McLaughlin also ran the 400-meter but did not reach the level that her husband did. Mary was on her high school track and field team, competing with the boys since there wasn't a girls team.

"[Cardinal] O’Hara didn’t have a girls team when I was there," Mary told The Buffalo News in 2021. "I was doing summer track before I ever got to O’Hara, so it was just a natural thing for me to run on the men's team."

Mary also went to Manhattan College and was a team manager for the men's track and field team. That's how she met Willie.
