Rookie WR oddly amongst Jets' gameday inactives for London showdown

The New York Jets used the No. 65 overall draft pick to select Malachi Corley, but there doesn't seem to be any urgency to put him on the field at this point in his rookie season.

After totaling only three snaps over the first four games, Corley is on the inactive list for the Week 5 battle against the Minnesota Vikings in London. He dressed in the September 29 home loss to the Denver Broncos, but never left the sideline.

"He just needs to continue to work. There's a group of receivers ahead of him that are operating a little bit better than he is right now. We as coaches also have to continue to work to develop him and get him ready to contribute to the offense," said head coach Robert Saleh this last Monday.

Corley, who has one four-yard catch this season, is one of seven Jets' inactives for the October 6 game in London.

Injured right tackle Morgan Moses is out again as is veteran linebacker CJ Mosley. Dealing with a toe injury, Mosley is down for the third week in a row. Backup offensive lineman Max Mitchell is a healthy scratch for the fourth time this season.

Running back Israel Abanikanda and cornerback Jarrick Bernard-Converse, both Day 3 picks from the 2023 NFL Draft, are inactive. The former has yet to appear in a game this season while the latter was active in Week 2. Undrafted rookie defensive lineman Braiden McGregor rounded out the Jets' list of gameday inactives.

On Saturday, the Jets elevated linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball and third quarterback Adrian Martinez from the Practice Squad. McCrary-Ball has been active each of the last two games while Martinez is up for the first time.
