The New England Patriots hit the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium on Friday for their third practice session of this year's training camp.
At this point in the process, the team still isn't wearing pads, so it's tough to really evaluate every position under such different circumstances. However, they were in shells for the first time.
Still, everyone watching practice is seeing the players put in the work to get better each time they step on the field. Here's everything that could be seen on Friday:
Participation/Attendance
- Defensive lineman Christian Barmore was absent again while defensive backs Marte Mapu and Kaleb Ford-Dement were absent for the first time.
- Davon Godchaux returned to action after missing Thursday's session.
- Cornerback Shaun Wade wore a red non-contact jersey.
- Running back Antonio Gibson made a brief appearance on the field again.

- Wide receiver Jalen Reagor showed off in a punt return drill, catching one while already holding two footballs.
- Quarterback Joe Milton did a backflip for the crowd.
- Tight end Mitchell Wilcox has been working a lot with the team's starters.
- Drake Maye hit Hunter Henry on a pass over the middle that had some good touch on it.
- Cornerback Christian Gonzalez broke up a pass from Jacoby Brissett to Tyquan Thornton in 11-on-11s.
- Offensive tackle Caedan Wallace started on the left side in 11-on-11s while Chukwuma Okorafor started on the right.
- Linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley batted a ball at the line.
- The defense continued to be ahead of the offense in team drills, which is expected at this point in camp. Maye's only completions in the first set were on short passes, and Brissett didn't complete a pass.
- Cornerback Alex Austin broke up a Brissett pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster.
- Brissett overshot Ja'Lynn Polk on a deep pass with Gonzalez in tight coverage.
- Calvin Anderson took reps at left tackle in 11-on-11s with Vederian Lowe on the right side.
- Maye hit Polk on a 40-yard deep shot with Azizi Hearn in coverage in 11-on-11s
- Matthew Judon took a Maye pass to the house in 11-on-11s. Maye responded with four completions
- Milton hit rookie Javon Baker on a 60-yard bomb
- Chad Ryland hit all four of his live field goal attempts, while Joey Slye went 3-for-4 (miss was from 37 yards)
