It's time for a matchup between one of the best teams in the nation and one of the ... well, not-so best.
Purdue visits Michigan for the first time since 2011 hoping to break a three-game losing streak against the Wolverines, though it probably won't happen against the second-ranked team in the nation. Michigan has won five straight games in this series dating back to 2009.
But will the Wolverines ignore the outside noise? In case you haven't heard, head coach Jim Harbaugh is under investigation by the NCAA for in-person scouting. Could be just a little distraction that his team has yet to play under.
The Wolverines had a timely bye week last Saturday after eight dominant games. They haven't allowed more than 10 points in a game and are the best defensive unit in the country, allowing only 226.8 yards per game. With Heisman contender JJ McCarthy under center, they're one of the most well-rounded teams.
Purdue, on the other hand, had their worst offensive performance in four seasons against Nebraska. The Boilermakers were limited to just 195 yards, 99 of those passing yards. If they want to make a third straight bowl game, they'll have to win out the rest of the season, including against Michigan. Considering they're last in the Big Ten in points per game allowed, averaging 30.0, that task will seem impossible
