They're still perfect. South Carolina won its fourth SEC tournament in five seasons with an emphatic win over defending NCAA champions LSU. It capped off a memorable showing by the Gamecocks.
It all surrounds Kamilla Cardoso. The senior hit the game-winning, buzzer-beater 3-pointer against Tennessee to advance to the championship game, keeping South Carolina's undefeated season alive. It was her first career 3-pointer, making the moment all the better.
Unfortunately, Cardoso won't be available for South Carolina for the first round of the NCAA tournament. The senior was disqualified for fighting in the final two minutes of the SEC championship, making her ineligible for the next game. Don't worry, Gamecock fans, they'll survive one game without their leading scorer.
The Gamecocks will face either Sacred Heart or Presbyterian in the first round on Friday. Joining them in Columbia, SC is a pair of big-name programs, 8-seed North Carolina and 9-seed Michigan State.
