The Baltimore Orioles won 91 games during the regular season and secured the top American League Wild Card spot before being swept in the first round by the Kansas City Royals.

This offseason, they have some holes to fill. They could potentially be filled in free agency or possibly even by trade. A closer and a top-level starting pitcher are their biggest needs.

With the winter meetings approaching, we may see the Orioles make a blockbuster trade, which could potentially even include one of their top prospects.

Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report expects top prospect Coby Mayo to be dealt before the winter meetings.

"The Baltimore Orioles decided to exercise their player option on Ryan O'Hearn and to tender a contract to Ramon Urias, which might serve as an indication they are not ready to rely on Coby Mayo to fill a significant role in the big leagues," Reuter wrote.

"They showed a willingness to deal MLB-ready talent last offseason when they sent Joey Ortiz and DL Hall to Milwaukee in the Corbin Burnes trade, and they are once again looking for an ace-caliber starter this winter."

Mayo made his Major League debut late in 2024 after slashing .293/.372/.592 in the minor leagues with 25 home runs, 73 RBI and 54 extra-base hits.

With Corbin Burnes a free agent and the closer's role vacant, Baltimore could look to deal Mayo to get what they need. He is the type of player that teams will be interested in if they are going to part ways with top talent.

It will certainly be interesting to see what the Orioles decide to do and if Mayo will be dangled in trade talks.
