Manchester City star Rodri has made his feelings clear about Real Madrid after the Spanish club snubbed the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

The midfielder, who won the prestigious award in October, criticized Madrid for their reaction to his win and dismissed any plans for a future move to the Bernabeu.

Rodri’s Ballon d’Or victory surprised many, as Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior was expected to claim the title. But City celebrated their star player’s recognition, cementing his place among the world’s best.

Despite the joy of his achievement, Rodri couldn’t ignore Madrid’s absence at the ceremony, calling it disrespectful.

"I cannot respect their decision," Rodri said. "In sport and in life, it’s not just about winning — it’s about how you lose.

"They didn’t want to be there, but for me, it was about celebrating with my club, my family, and the people who supported me."

What Rodri said about Pep Guardiola amid City’s recent struggles

Rodri also addressed Manchester City’s recent struggles.

The midfielder has been sidelined with a long-term ACL injury, leaving a noticeable void in Guardiola’s team.

With City losing five straight games and their Champions League hopes in doubt, Rodri praised Guardiola for staying committed.

“Pep is unbelievable,” he said. “He doesn’t need to prove anything, but he pushes us every day. That’s why I’m so happy he’s staying.”

Guardiola recently signed a two-year extension, giving City a boost in a challenging season.

Rodri credited his manager for shaping his career and inspiring the team during tough times.

As for his recovery, Rodri hinted at a possible return before the season ends.

“I’m focused on rehab,” he said. “If all goes well, I hope to help the team when it matters most.”
