The Los Angeles Chargers have quietly made some moves at the safety position this week and though they seem minor in the grand scheme of things, they are interesting nonetheless.

Earlier this week, the Chargers chose to move on from A.J. Finley, a safety that once seemed to hold a prominent role in the team's future. That news came out just as the team was preparing to face the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football

On Wednesday, the Chargers decided to take a flyer on a different safety. Former second-round pick, Marcus Maye, recently waived by the Miami Dolphins, was claimed off of waivers.

Maye, originally drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Florida by the New York Jets, is in his eighth NFL season. He most recently played for the Dolphins, with whom he signed this summer. He played in all 11 games for the Dolphins this season, making three starts.

Now 31 years old, Maye will be looking to add a veteran presence to the Chargers' secondary.

The Chargers will be Maye's fourth NFL team as he also spent two seasons with the New Orleans Saints. For his career, he has over 400 career tackles and eight interceptions while playing in 88 career games with 80 starts.

The Chargers have put in the work to find answers at safety this season, kicking the tires on veteran Tony Jefferson while also trading for Elijah Molden following the preseason. Molden has been a great addition to the roster and his arrival led to the elimination of Finley.

Finley has also found a new team after he was claimed through waivers by the Seattle Seahawks.

We'll see how long it takes for Maye to acclimate to his new surroundings in Los Angeles and how he fits into the plans for the Chargers this season.
