While the New England Patriots may have some pieces to build around going forward, including rookie quarterback Drake Maye, they've played some ugly football throughout the 2024 campaign.

Their performance has led to a 3-9 record through their first 12 games, and with that, Patriots fans and analysts are looking at the franchise's future despite there still being five games left in Jerod Mayo's first season as the team's head coach.

If New England continues on this trajectory, they'll be picking near the top of the 2025 NFL draft again, putting them in prime position to select a talented, young player at a position of need.

Pro Football Network's Dalton Miller released a seven-round mock draft for 2025 which predicts every single selection for all 32 teams.

Here's who Miller predicts the Patriots will select:

  • Round 1, Pick 4: EDGE James Pearce Jr. (Tennessee)
  • Round 2, Pick 36: WR Tre Harris (Ole Miss)
  • Round 3, Pick 68: WR Jalen Royals (Utah State)
  • Round 3, Pick 83: LB Danny Stutsman (Oklahoma)
  • Round 4, Pick 105: CB Davison Igbinosun (Ohio State)
  • Round 5, Pick 142: CB Jacob Parrish (Kansas State)
  • Round 7, Pick 219: S Yam Banks (Ole Miss)
  • Round 7, Pick 223: OT Fa'alili Fa'amoe (Washington State)
  • Round 7, Pick 240: RB Roman Hemby (Maryland)

New England needs to address all of these positions, so it's not a bad estimation that this is how the draft goes. However, the Patriots will need to spend their money in free agency to shore up their offensive line if they don't draft a lineman until the seventh round.

It would also be very interesting to see them select a pair of wideouts again in this draft after doing so last year. It would be an admittance that at least one of them isn't going to work here long term, but through 12 weeks, it's hard to argue against that.
