The Detroit Lions are playing their annual Thanksgiving Day game on Thursday, with their opponent this year being the Chicago Bears. Early on in the contest, one of their key players, running back Jahmyr Gibbs, has been quiet.

Gibbs is having a fantastic 2024 campaign after his impressive, Pro Bowl rookie year. The Lions running back topped 1,200 scrimmage yards in 2023 and fell just short of rushing for 1,000 yards, which he would've done if not for missing multiple games.

While Gibbs remains a huge part of the Lions' offense, he hasn't gotten much action early on in the first quarter of the game against the Bears. Here's what's going on with the Lions star.

Is Jahmyr Gibbs playing today?

UPDATE: As we said, Gibbs was very involved on Detroit's second series and had a handful of carries for 52 yards. We're off and running, folks.

END OF UPDATE

Gibbs is active and in the lineup. He saw snaps over the Lions' first drive of the game, but did not see a touch.

Fellow running back David Montgomery dominated touches on the opening series and the Lions are going with their usual series-by-series rotation, where one back gets more snaps and touches than the other.

Gibbs should be much more involved for Detroit's second drive, so his touches are coming.
