Just like turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing, the Lions are a staple on Thanksgiving.
The tradition began in 1934 when the team officially adopted the "Lions" name and relocated to Detroit from Portsmouth, Ohio. To attract fans, owner George A. Richards struck a deal with NBC to broadcast the Lions vs. Bears on TV.
Thanksgiving this year will revisit that historic matchup as the two NFC North teams face off on the holiday. The Lions are tied for the best record in the league at 10-1 and look like legitimate Super Bowl contenders. They've won nine straight and limited their opponents to six points in back-to-back games.
The Bears are slipping, having lost five straight after starting 4-2. Caleb Williams had high expectations as a rookie and while he's shown promise, there's certainly work to be done. He'll get to play on the ultimate stage as a rookie, something not many quarterbacks can say they've done. His performance won't go unnoticed.
Detroit will look to break its Thanksgiving Day losing streak. The team hasn't won a game on the holiday since 2016 despite playing every year.
