Collingwood will be without captain Darcy Moore for the biggest home-and-away match of the season when they face Essendon at the MCG on Anzac Day.

In the same clash, the Bombers look set to hand a 36-year-old his first game of the season after a serious injury to Sam Draper.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs need to figure out how to replace young star Sam Darcy following his knee injury.

The Sporting News has all the selection news from Round 7.

Melbourne vs. Richmond team news, selection, injuries

The Demons look set to welcome back key defender Steven May, pending a fitness test, although they lose Daniel Turner, who played down back in round 6.

Jake Melksham also needs to prove his fitness after suffering a cut which required stitches.

Simon Goodwin will be unlikely to tinker too much with the side that beat Freo, with Turner's concussion potentially enough to keep former Lion Tom Fullarton in the side after a quiet debut, as well as single-goal performances from Bayley Fritsch and Jacob van Rooyen in the VFL.

Meanwhile, Richmond lose Samson Ryan to a foot injury and Noah Balta to a court-ordered curfew, meaning he can only play day games for the next three months.

Campbell Gray has already been confirmed to make his debut as a key defender, while Rhyan Mansell faces a fitness test on his shoulder.

The Tigers were winners over Gold Coast last week and will most likely avoid any unforced changes, although Tyler Sonsie racked up 35 touches in the VFL to do his chances no harm.

Collingwood vs. Essendon team news, selection, injuries

The Pies have suffered a big blow ahead of the Anzac Day clash, with skipper Darcy Moore ruled out due to an inner ear issue.

Charlie Dean or Jacob Ryan could be in the mix to replace him and line up on Peter Wright, although Craig McRae may look to shuffle the existing magnets rather than make a more drastic change.

Dan Houston returns following his suspension, while Tim Membrey and Lachie Sullivan remain in contention after being managed in round 6, with Mason Cox potentially to make way if McRae opts for a change in structure.

For Essendon, they lose ruckman Sam Draper to a season-ending Achilles injury, while Kyle Langford is expected to return from injury.

Draper's injury opens the door for a possible recall for the 36-year-old Todd Goldstein, who hasn't featured at AFL level this season.

In the reserves, Alwyn Davey Jr. and Jayden Laverde are coming off big games, putting pressure on the likes of Jade Gresham and Jye Menzie.

Fremantle vs. Adelaide team news, selection, injuries

The Dockers were disappointing in the loss to Melbourne and lost Jaeger O'Meara to injury in the process.

Heath Chapman is expected to return following his late withdrawal due to illness, while several Dockers put their hands up with big performances in the WAFL, including Quinton Narkle (37 disposals) and Corey Wagner (28).

For Adelaide, the big watch will be on the fitness of Josh Rachele, who looms as a chance to return from a rib injury.

Darcy Fogarty is expected to get up in time following a knock to his shoulder, while James Peatling is in line to return following suspension.

Sam Berry, who replaced Peatling, looks like the most likely option to come out of the side, while youngster's Zac Taylor and Sid Draper may drop out if Rachele is good to go.

St Kilda vs. Brisbane team news, selection, injuries

The Saints are sweating on the potential returns of Dougal Howard, Hunter Clark and Jack Carroll as they are put through their paces on the track this week.

After a thumping at the hands of the Dogs, Ross Lyon could swing the axe.

Liam Henry was quiet before being subbed in his first game of the season, while Lance Collard and Cooper Sharman also had little impact.

Tobie Travaglia was among the best in the VFL with 26 disposals and could push his case for a recall.

Meanwhile, Kai Lohmann looks ready to return for the Lions following an ankle injury, with last week's debutant Sam Marshall the most likely to make way.

Despite a rare flat performance against the Pies, Chris Fagan is unlikely to make any major changes, although Ty Gallop, Darcy Fort and Deven Robertson were among the best-performed players in the reserves should he wish to shake things up a little.

Port Adelaide vs. North Melbourne team news, selection, injuries

A stirring win over the Swans should keep Ken Hinkley pretty happy.

Brandon Zerk-Thatcher has been passed fit for his first game of the year, although he could be brought back through the SANFL, while Ryan Burton faces a fitness test.

Christian Moraes and Tom Cochrane were quiet in the win over the Swans, with Joe Berry performing strongly in the reserves, picking up 23 touches and two goals, following his demotion.

North Melbourne look set to welcome back Jackson Archer for his first game since round 1, although they lose Zac Fisher to a hamstring injury.

Finn O'Sullivan, Jack Darling, Colby McKercher and Jacob Konstanty could be looking over their shoulder ahead of selection.

Will Phillips, Brynn Teakle, Riley Hardeman, Bailey Scott, Kallan Dawson, Will Dawson and Cooper Harvey's names will no doubt be brought up at match committee to help kickstart the struggling Roos.

GWS vs. Western Bulldogs team news, selection, injuries

The Giants could be boosted by the returns of experienced pair Jesse Hogan and Stephen Coniglio.

Expect one of Aaron Cadman or Jake Riccardi to come out of the side to make room for Hogan if he's passed fit.

Last week's sub Xavier O'Halloran probably did enough in his recall to stay in the side, although a tough decision may need to be made if Coniglio is right to play.

Max Gruzewski kicked five goals in the twos giving Adam Kingsley plenty to think about.

A serious knee injury to Sam Darcy will be a load off Kingsley's mind, with Luke Beveridge searching for a replacement for his gun key forward.

With no obvious option in the reserves, the opportunity may fall to Buku Khamis or James O'Donnell to play exclusively forward.

Lachie McNeil has also been ruled out with a hamstring problem, however Laitham Vandermeer could offset that loss as he returns from a knee injury.

James Harmes is listed as a test despite being subbed out in round 6.

One player banging down the door for a debut is Jedd Busslinger, who finished with 30 disposals in the VFL last weekend.

Gold Coast vs. Sydney team news, selection, injuries

Gold Coast tasted defeat for the first time in 2025 when going down to Richmond and a host of Suns, namely Ethan Read, Jake Rogers, Jed Walter and Bailey Humphrey, were well held in that game.

Damien Hardwick is unlikely to overreact to one defeat, although Brayden Fiorini is in prolific form in the VFL, recording a whopping 90 disposals across the past two weeks.

Veteran David Swallow is set to play his first game of 2025 although that could come in the VFL.

Sydney coach Dean Cox would have been hoping to welcome back Logan McDonald about now but the key forward's ankle has flared up and he's been put on ice.

Despite that, the Tom McCartin forward experiment appears to be over, with Cox confirming he'll remain down back for an extended run, perhaps in response to Aaron Francis' three goals as the sub.

Peter Ladhams and Ben Paton were solid in the reserves, as was Angus Sheldrick following his dropping, with Corey Warner and Tom Hanily the most in danger of missing out.

Carlton vs. Geelong team news, selection, injuries

The Blues will hope to have big man Harry McKay available following a concussion in round 6, while Lachie Cowan also faces a fitness test ahead of the clash with the Cats.

Few Carlton players stood out for the wrong reasons in the big win over North Melbourne so don't expect too many changes from Michael Voss, although Lucas Camporeale was among the best in the VFL if anyone is to drop out.

For Geelong, they lose Gryan Miers to concussion, while Oisin Mullin could return after being a late withdrawal.

The selection squeeze could come for the likes of Mitch Knevitt and Ted Clohesy, with Jhye Clark and Mitch Duncan impressing in the reserves.

Hawthorn vs. West Coast team news, selection, injuries

The Hawks lose Conor Nash to suspension for his hit on Gryan Miers.

Sam Mitchell would have been thrilled to see Jack Ginnivan respond to his axing with four goals from 22 touches in the VFL, although Finn Maginness or Henry Hustwaite would make for a more like-for-like replacement for Nash.

Meanwhile, Oscar Allen is expected to come back in after being given a week off by the Eagles.

Matt Flynn and Jack Williams were both impressive in Allen's absence, potentially seeing Archer Reid as the man to make way.

Tyrell Dewar, Jack Hutchinson and Matt Owies were all quiet in the loss to Essendon and could come out for the likes of Tom Cole or Clay Hall.
