Eric Konkol has served faithfully at Jim Larranaga's side for more than a decade. Now he'll get a chance to run his own program.
The Miami (Fla.) assistant will be the next head coach at Louisiana Tech, ESPN and CBS Sports reported early Sunday morning. Konkol will replace Michael White, who steps into Billy Donovan's shoes at Florida.

This is no rebuilding job, either. White built a juggernaut in Ruston, winning the last three Conference USA titles and going 101-40 in his four seasons at Louisiana Tech.
Konkol has spent 11 seasons as an assistant to Larranaga at George Mason and Miami and was described by both schools as the coach's "offensive coordinator." He previously worked on staffs at Tulsa and Tennessee.
According to CBS Sports, Konkol beat out a field of candidates that included North Florida coach Matt Driscoll, Oklahoma assistant Steve Henson and Baylor assistant Jerome Tang for the Louisiana Tech job.
