The most prestigious club trophy in women's football was awarded on Saturday, May 25 at Estadio San Mames in Spain.

Barcelona and Lyon met in the UEFA Women's Champions League final for the second time in three seasons. The French giants won 3-1 back in 2022 to deny the Catalans a second straight trophy, although they returned a year later to reclaim the prize, defeating Wolfsburg 3-2 in the Netherlands. In 2024, Aitana Bonmati and Alexia Putellas gave Barca a 2-0 win at San Mames to seal an historic quadruple of titles.

Barca and Lyon have been two of the dominant forces in European women's football over the past 15 years and the match lived up to the billing in front of a record crowd of just over 50,000 spectators. But which team has the greatest level of success in this tournament's history?

The Sporting News looks at the teams to have won this competition the most, and the players who have celebrated with the trophy more than any others, as the group stage of the 2024/25 season gets underway.

Who has won the most UEFA Women's Champions League titles?

The most successful club in the history of the UEFA Women's Champions League are Lyon. They have been European champions on eight occasions, which is twice as often as any other club.

The table below details the teams with the most tournament wins. It's worth noting that these figures include the era of the UEFA Women's Cup, which was the precursor to the modern Champions League and ran from 2001/02 until 2009/10.

Which player has won the most Women's Champions League titles?

The most successful players in this competition are, unsurprisingly, all from Lyon. Sarah Bouhaddi, Eugenie Le Sommer, and Wendie Renard were all part of Lyon's eight trophy wins. Renard also holds the record for the most appearances in the final, having played in 11.

Former Germany forward Conny Pohlers is the only woman to have won the competition with three different clubs, having lifted the trophy with Turbine Potsdam (2005), Eintracht Frankfurt (2008) and Wolfsburg (2013 and 2014).
