The USWNT will begin a three-match celebration tour of their recent Olympic gold medal triumph as they meet Iceland for a pair of international friendlies in late October, followed by one against Argentina shortly after.
Head coach Emma Hayes will begin to look towards the future as the next major tournament cycle begins, ultimately eyeing the 2027 Women's World Cup and 2028 Olympics. Still, there are plenty of big matches between now and then, such as the pair of high-profile December friendlies against England and the Netherlands.
The squad features many top regulars, but is missing the likes of Trinity Rodman and Crystal Dunn, meaning there may be chances for young up-and-coming players to see time this window.
Ranked 13th in the world, Iceland are no easy out, having barely missed out on a spot at the 2023 Women's World Cup but roaring back to secure big results last summer in Euro qualification against Germany, among others.

USA vs. Iceland lineups & team news
A few key regulars are missing from this USWNT camp as they either recover from injuries or manage their minutes.
The most notable absence is Trinity Rodman, who is only just returning from a back injury for her club Washington Spirit and gets some extra rest over the international break. Crystal Dunn, now 32 years old, has been out of club action this month due to personal reasons and will not appear, while her Gotham teammate Tierna Davidson is also missing due to a hamstring injury.
These absences have allowed youngsters like Eva Gaetino, Hal Hershfelt, Olivia Moultrie, and Alyssa Thompson to get a look in the camp. It's likely that all will be rotated into the lineup at some point through these two games, but it's unclear how and when. For now, expect the regular starters to get a run out before Emma Hayes calls in the reinforcements to play their part.

Nobody in the Iceland squad comes remotely close to the experience of Bayern Munich defender Glodis Viggosdottir, whose 128 caps are almost double the total of anyone else on the roster. Only the 65 of fellow defender Ingibjorg Sigurdardottir can even claim over half.
Head coach Thorsteinn Halldorsson has shown a propensity to deploy multiple formations, able to organize his side to favor a collection of midfielders or a preference for wide play. The main goal threat is Wolfsburg playmaker Sveindis Jonsdottir who at 23 years old has begun to blossom into one of the world's top prospects.
