Rhythmic Gymnastics

Artistic gymnastics competition may be over, but rhythmic gymnastics still has medals to hand out. The sport is short but sweet, taking place over just three days, and is about to kick off from the 2024 Olympics.

The sport is less about flipping high and fast but rather artistic elements, like turns and leaps. Gymnasts are judged on their flexibility and precision while using different apparatuses, which include a hoop, ribbon, clubs or ball.

Russia has won a medal in every group competition since the first in 1996, winning five golds as well as a silver in Tokyo as the ROC. There, Bulgaria took home its first gold medal while Italy grabbed bronze.

With no Russian gymnasts in this year's competition, the individual podium is wide open. However, Darja Varfolomeev is the favorite after winning the 2023 Worlds all-around title and all four event finals. The German is just the second rhythmic gymnast to pull off that feat.

Anything can and will happen in Paris. Here's how to watch all the action unfold in the 2024 Olympic rhythmic gymnastics competition.
