Jets vs. Vikings final score, results: Minnesota holds off New York's comeback efforts in London to stay unbeaten image

The flights home from London for the Vikings and Jets will have very different moods on Monday.

One team is heading back to the U.S. undefeated, while the other is returning with more questions than answers — questions a Davante Adams trade alone might not solve.

The Vikings' defense did a stellar job against Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense early in Sunday's game, intercepting the 40-year-old QB twice before New York could even muster a first down. In the second half, though, it was time for the Jets' defense to return the favor. Sam Darnold and his receivers were completely out of sync, letting the Jets sneak back into the game despite an offense that remained less than consistent.

Minnesota largely avoided the running game after Aaron Jones exited with a hip injury, and it nearly cost them. The Jets had plenty of time down the stretch, getting the ball back with more than three minutes remaining and a chance to take the lead with a touchdown.

At first, Rodgers made it look easy. The Jets made it all the way down to the Vikings' 26-yard line, but a timeout appeared to interrupt their momentum and a third down pass from the veteran was intercepted by Stephon Gilmore to send the Jets spiraling below .500.

It wasn't pretty for the Vikings, but 5-0 is 5-0. Minnesota enters its bye in a position no one expected, and the offense will have two weeks to get back on track ahead of a crucial divisional matchup with the Lions.

The Jets, meanwhile, have a world of problems at 2-3. Rodgers, who was hobbled after getting twisted under defenders on Sunday but stayed in the game, threw three interceptions in another choppy game for the offense, and a Monday night matchup with the Bills in Week 6 means the path forward isn't any easier for the Jets as they try to avoid slipping out of contention before the calendar hits November.

Jets vs. Vikings results, highlights from NFL London game

(All times Eastern)

Vikings 23, Jets 17

12:51 p.m. INTERCEPTION — Rodgers is INTERCEPTED by Stephon Gilmore to end the game. The Jets were rolling before the timeout, but Brian Flores forced Rodgers into some quick decisions and ends the game himself. The Vikings are going to leave London 5-0.

12:49 p.m. — Officials rule Wilson didn't have the first down, but the Jets pick it up on a rare run seconds later. They're 26 yards and an extra point away from a lead.

12:48 p.m. — Wilson quite literally crawls for a first down on the very next play. He's been targeted 21 times.

12:47 p.m. — Rodgers had Wilson downfield, but Wilson couldn't get to where Rodgers needed him.

12:44 p.m. — The Jets will take it two the two-minute warning with 2nd & 3 at the Vikings' 47-yard line after Lazard gained seven yards. The Jets have run 48 pass plays and 13 run plays.

12:43 p.m. — Wilson takes Rodgers' pass up the middle for 20 yards to get the Jets near midfield.

Vikings 23, Jets 17

12:40 p.m. FIELD GOAL — Reichard's kick isn't perfect, but it's enough to extend the Vikings' lead to six. Rodgers and the Jets need a touchdown here.

12:39 p.m. — Darnold throws incomplete on third down, so Reichard will come on for a field goal try. The Jets will have the chance to take the lead either way.

12:37 p.m. — Now Darnold is starting to feel it. He hits Johnny Mundt for 20 yards, and the Vikings should get at least a field goal out of this if they don't turn the ball over.

12:36 p.m. — A big completion to Justin Jefferson quickly takes the Vikings into Jets territory. That's the play Minnesota's offense has been needing.

Vikings 20, Jets 17

12:32 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — Rodgers hits Wilson for the touchdown! The Jets are within three with 6:04 remaining. Things are getting mighty interesting.

12:31 p.m. — Wow, Stephon Gilmore is called for pass interference on a 3rd & Goal incompletion. The Jets are set up at the one.

12:27 p.m. — Rodgers hits Mike Williams for a huge third down completion after a quick snap. The Jets outsmarted the Vikings' defense that time. 1st & Goal, Jets.

12:26 p.m. — A first down by Wilson takes it down to about the 29-yard line for the Jets. They need two scores, and this is Greg Zuerlein's territory.

12:23 p.m. INTERCEPTION — Darnold throws deep on third down and is picked off by Brandin Echols! It would've been a punt if it were an incompletion, but now the Jets are set up in Vikings territory.

12:19 p.m. — Rodgers can't connect with Wilson on 3rd & 13, and the Jets go three-and-out again. They're quickly running out of time.

12:17 p.m. — Harrison Phillips buries Rodgers on second down. He had no chance of escaping that one.

Vikings 20, Jets 10

12:13 p.m. FIELD GOAL — Reichard continues to make big kicks, this time drilling it from 53 yards out. A huge one for the Vikings, who now lead 20-10.

12:12 p.m. — Minnesota's offense goes nowhere, but the field position is strong enough for a long Reichard field goal try.

12:08 p.m. — The Vikings will start inside the Jets' 40-yard line, so that's already fringe field goal range with Will Reichard's leg.

12:07 p.m. — Rodgers throws it away on third down, and the Vikings are going to be set up really well with field position here in all likelihood.

12:06 p.m. — Rodgers goes down on second down, and a failure to convert here would mean the Jets would be punting out of their own end zone.

12:04 p.m. — New York will start just yards away from its own end zone again.

12:02 p.m. — The Jets' defense is cooking right now, forcing the Vikings to 3rd & 10 and pressuring Darnold to bring up a punt.

End of third quarter: Vikings 17, Jets 10

11:58 a.m. — D.J. Reed is having all kinds of trouble guarding Justin Jefferson and commits another pass interference penalty to give the Vikings 24 yards.

Vikings 17, Jets 10

11:53 a.m. FIELD GOAL — The Jets' drive stalls after a missed connection on 3rd & 8, and Greg Zuerlein drills an easy field goal to cut the Vikings' deficit to seven. Despite all of their offensive struggles, New York is in this game if it can keep the Vikings off the board here.

11:50 a.m. — Two more first downs have the Jets in the red zone. Braelon Allen is starting to build momentum after a slow start, picking up 22 total yards on back-to-back plays.

11:47 a.m. — The Jets are moving the ball a bit now, with Rodgers finding Wilson for a first down to take New York to midfield. Any points would be positive for the Jets here.

11:44 a.m. — Well, a penalty on the punt gives the Jets a fresh set of downs. And now who's coming back onto the field? It's Rodgers, who was just down on the field writhing in pain mere minutes ago.

11:43 a.m. — Rodgers walks off under his own power, and the Jets will punt this away as the injuries pile up.

11:41 a.m. — Aaron Rodgers is down and appears to be in significant pain with a leg injury. He got twisted up underneath defenders.

11:35 a.m. — Minnesota's punt is saved from going into the end zone, and the Jets will be forced to start from their own 2-yard line. New York badly needs points.

11:34 a.m. — Darnold is sacked for the fourth time, and the Vikings will punt.

11:30 a.m. — Jordan Addison finally gets involved with back-to-back catches, including a 27-yard grab from Darnold as the Vikings get going. Sauce Gardner is down after getting hit by teammate Quincy Williams.

11:26 a.m. — The Jets play it pretty conservatively on 3rd & 12, throwing behind the sticks, and it predictably doesn't turn into anything. Minnesota's offense will get another chance.

11:21 a.m. — The Jets force a quick three-and-out to start the second half. Darnold has really struggled since starting 4-of-5 passing. He's now 7-of-15.

End of first half: Vikings 17, Jets 7

11:03 a.m. — The Vikings try to go aggressive, but Darnold gets destroyed by Micheal Clemons on second down and they will take their 17-7 lead to halftime.

Vikings 17, Jets 7

10:59 a.m. TOUCHDOWN — Rodgers finds Lazard in the end zone on third down! What a moment for the Jets' offense, which has shown next to nothing today but has itself a touchdown. It's 17-7 Vikings with 36 seconds until halftime.

10:58 a.m. — A deflected pass nearly ends up as another Vikings interception, but the Jets survive.

10:57 a.m. — An impressive return sets up the Jets in field goal range already. There won't be an excuse not to get points here.

10:54 a.m. — The Jets get a quick stop deep in Vikings territory, so they will have about 90 seconds and solid field position if they want to try and strike before halftime.

10:50 a.m. — Aaron Jones has been out of the game for some time now with a hip injury. With the Vikings up 17-0, they may play it cautious with him.

10:47 a.m. — Rodgers gets absolutely drilled by Harrison Smith on 3rd & 6. No one was blocking Smith, and Rodgers never saw him coming. The Jets will punt again.

Vikings 17, Jets 0

10:40 a.m. TOUCHDOWN — C.J. Ham runs it in for the Vikings touchdown! Minnesota is walloping New York, 17-0.

10:39 a.m. — Another defensive penalty gives the Vikings a fresh set of downs at the 2-yard line.

10:38 a.m. — Sauce Gardner drops what would've been a huge interception in the end zone.

10:35 a.m. — D.J. Reed swats away a pass to Jefferson, but he's called for pass interference for an interaction a few seconds before and gives the Vikings a first down in the red zone.

10:32 a.m. — An illegal shift erases a big run by Ty Chandler. That would've put the Vikings in the red zone.

10:31 a.m. — Darnold hits Jefferson for 27 yards to quickly push the Vikings into Jets territory. Jefferson has 61 yards on four catches.

10:27 a.m. — The Jets turn it over on downs after two runs for a combined one yard by Braelon Allen. New York's running game is totally ineffective for the second consecutive week.

10:25 a.m. — The Jets finally pick up a first down on a nice pass up the middle to Tyler Conklin. New York is in Vikings territory and fringe field goal range.

10:20 a.m. — Kevin O'Connell keeps the Vikings' offense on the field on 4th & 2, but Darnold's throw downfield never had much of a chance. Rodgers and the Jets' offense will get the ball back in hopes of finding some life.

10:17 a.m. — The Jets forced the Vikings to third-and-long, but an illegal contact penalty against Sauce Gardner gives Minnesota a fresh set of downs. A costly call.

End of first quarter: Vikings 10, Jets 0

10:10 a.m. INTERCEPTION — Rodgers is intercepted AGAIN. This time it's Camryn Bynum. That's two interceptions and zero first downs. It's panic time for the Jets' offense.

Vikings 10, Jets 0

10:04 a.m. PICK-SIX — Andrew Van Ginkel intercepts Rodgers and takes it all the way back for six! That's a 63-yard pick-six for Van Ginkel, and the Vikings have a 10-0 lead. New York's offense is a total mess today.

10:02 a.m. — Lazard with a bad drop on 2nd & 6. The Jets' offense has yet to record a first down.

10:00 a.m. FUMBLE — Darnold steps back in...and loses the ball on a pitch to Ty Chandler gone wrong. Quinnen Williams nearly had a path to take it the distance but gets tripped up. That's a massive play for the Jets' defense.

9:59 a.m. — Mullens steps in and finds Aaron Jones for 24 yards on 3rd & 4, because why not.

9:58 a.m. — Darnold walks off, but Nick Mullens has to come in for at least one play.

9:55 a.m. — Darnold takes a big hit on an incompletion and is still keeled over on the field. Appeared to be a shot to the ribs.

9:52 a.m. — Jets DB Michael Carter II is doubtful to return with a hamstring injury.

9:50 a.m. — The punt (return) nearly goes awry for the Vikings as the ball is picked up by the Jets, but officials rule the ball touched a Jet first and therefore can't be recovered by New York.

9:49 a.m. — Rodgers and Garrett Wilson still can't get on the same page. Rodgers had Wilson on 3rd & 6, but something just wasn't right about that play and it falls incomplete. The Jets will punt.

Vikings 3, Jets 0

9:43 a.m. FIELD GOAL — Minnesota is fortunate to salvage three points as Reichard's big leg drills it from 54 yards. Vikings lead 3-0.

9:42 a.m. — Darnold is sacked for a huge loss by Will McDonald IV on 3rd & 1. That's 12 yards, and it's going to make Will Reichard's field goal much longer than it had to be.

9:41 a.m. — Jefferson just barely gets the first down on 3rd & 6. Meanwhile, the Vikings' running game already has 21 yards on just three carries as they near the red zone.

9:39 a.m. — There's a big play for Jefferson, who goes 26 yards to bring Minnesota past midfield. Kevin O'Connell is one of the best in the league at scripting opening drives, and it's working so far.

9:38 a.m. — The Jefferson play is ruled an incompletion, not a fumble, but it doesn't matter. Darnold finds Johnny Mundt for a first down on second-and-short.

9:37 a.m. — Justin Jefferson fumbles out of bounds on the first play of the game. No harm, no foul for the Vikings.

9:33 a.m. — Rodgers finds Garrett Wilson on 3rd & 9, but Wilson comes up just short and the Jets will punt. They're not taking any chances.

9:31 a.m. — Jared Allen leads Vikings fans in the "SKOL" chant. The Jets will start with the ball.

9:26 a.m. — The Jets and Vikings are getting set to kick off after the playing of the national anthems.

9:10 a.m. — The Jets might spend the next week trying to land Davante Adams, as reports indicate a deal could come together quickly despite the trade deadline still being four weeks away.

8:50 a.m. — Many will be watching the sideline to see if there's any smoke to the speculation that Aaron Rodgers and Robert Saleh aren't on the same page. The pair publicly disagreed last week about how to address mounting false start penalties but said later in the week that there was no issue at all between each other.

8:25 a.m. — No notable inactives for the Vikings as they try to stay unbeaten.

8:15 a.m. — Morgan Moses and C.J. Mosley are again inactive for the Jets, as it rookie Malachi Corley.
