The New England Patriots reportedly signed offensive tackle Kellen Diesch earlier this morning, so they needed to make a corresponding move to open up a roster spot.

According to The Boston Herald's Doug Kyed, New England waived running back DeShaun Fenwick before Friday's training camp session.

Fenwick, 24, played collegiately at South Carolina and Oregon State before going undrafted this year. He was expected to compete for a depth or practice squad spot throughout camp and into the preseason.

The Patriots' running back room is down to just five players - Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson, JaMycal Hasty, Kevin Harris and Terrell Jennings.
