The Las Vegas Raiders have made a significant addition to their offensive line room, with the team reportedly signing three-time Pro Bowler and former New Orleans Saints guard and tackle, Andrus Peat.
The news comes from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who did not reveal the length and financial terms of the deal. Regardless, this is a notable move for the Raiders in terms of beefing up the offensive line.
Peat has spent the majority of his career playing left guard, where he made the three aforementioned Pro Bowl appearances. But he was the full-time left tackle for the Saints in 2023, surrendering three sacks and 30 pressures in 476 pass-block snaps (715 total snaps at left tackle) last season.
With Kolton Miller on the left side, the only tackle need the Raiders have comes on the right side, where the team is currently expected to start Thayer Munford Jr., who will first have to beat out third-round pick Delmar Glaze and others in training camp. Peat has 78 career snaps there.
As far as guard is concerned, the Raiders appeared to be set with Dylan Parham and second-round pick Jackson Powers-Johnson, but perhaps Las Vegas isn't as set as we thought.
No matter what the Raiders plans are for him, Peat should compete for a starting job and will provide quality depth if he doesn't get one. Here are some of the best reactions to the move:
Peat has spent most of his career at guard, but he’s built like a tackle at 6-7, 316 pounds, and has experience playing left and right tackle. Could compete for the #Raiders' starting RT job and provide quality depth. https://t.co/1nLby6E9iE

Fantastic signing for Las Vegas. They’ve really revamped their OL. https://t.co/z66qZhFEOt

You could argue that Andrus Peat saved the Saints’ season by switching back to left tackle on the fly. Never understood why Mickey Loomis and DA spoke so mildly about him in free agency.

andrus peat saints tenure is officially over. It's weird how his tenure is looked upon. He was good most of the time but his failures were really bad. But if u draft an OL and get

9 years of starter caliber play
111 games played
102 games started
3 pro bowls
That's a good pick
Andrus Peat came back last year on a paycut, lost his starting job at LG to James Hurst and ended up back in the starting lineup at LT in that same season. Peat's flexibility really helped after the OL had a rough start to the season, but he became a FA after his contract voided

Former Saints 1st-round pick moves on after nine seasons. Initially thought Saints may want him back, but they were content to let him go.

Definitely some highs and lows over that stretch, but a huge part of team’s 2017-2020 revival. And finished with one of his better seasons. https://t.co/dSGzu945Co
