The Chiefs visited the White House on Friday, months after Kansas City won its second consecutive Super Bowl.

In what has become an almost annual experience for the Chiefs — they were also there in 2019 — this iteration of the trip had a few more hilarious and strange moments than the previous ones.

United States President Joe Biden welcomed the Chiefs back to the White House and joked that he liked the sound of winning something back-to-back, a reference to his 2024 presidential campaign.

"The first team in 20 years to win back-to-back," Biden said. "Winning back-to-back, I kind of like that."

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also presented Biden with a team helmet, which almost instantly became the viral moment of the afternoon after he deliver part of his speech with it on.

Travis Kelce makes another White House podium appearance

A year ago, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce almost tried to make a speech from the presidential podium as he walked by it in 2023. He was quickly ushered away by quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

This time around, Biden invited Kelce up to the podium. Kelce came forward but politely declined to speak and jokingly said that, "they told me if I came up here I'd get tased, so I'm gonna go back to my spot."

Harrison Butker attends White House visit

There were questions as to whether or not Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker would join the team at the White House following his incendiary comments at a college commencement earlier this month. Some of those comments included shots at Biden, who he called a hypocrite for claiming to be a Catholic despite Biden's views on abortion. Butker doubled down on his remarks later but hadn't made many public appearances since.

Butker was among his teammates at the White House, although he wasn't prominently displayed with Mahomes and Kelce. He stood in the back row.

Regarding Biden, Butker said that:

"Our own nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith but at the same time is delusional enough to make the sign of the cross during a pro-abortion rally. He has been so vocal in his support for the murder of innocent babies that, I'm sure to many people, it appears that you can be both Catholic and pro-choice. He is not alone."

Mahomes, Kelce and Reid have all made public statements about Butker. Mahomes and Kelce noted they disagreed with Butker's views before still valued him as a teammate and a person. Reid added that everyone should respect others' opinions.
