The stars are out for the World Series, with the Yankees and Dodgers clashing for the title in a titanic showdown.
The Yankees return to the Fall Classic for the first time since 2009, thanks in large part to their trio of vaunted sluggers: Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Giancarlo Stanton.
Soto smashed a game-winning, three-run home run in the 10th inning of Game 5 of the ALCS, a mesmerizing blast that vaulted New York to the brink of the World Series. Stanton, the ALCS MVP, launched four home runs in the series. And Judge just compiled arguably the best single season all-time by a right-handed batter.
An equally formidable offense looms on the other side, as Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts barrel the Dodgers into the World Series for the first time since 2020. Ohtani, playing in his first postseason, reached base 17 times in the NLCS, setting a new franchise record. Betts, who entered the playoffs battling October demons, has swatted four home runs.
The storied franchises have met 12 times in the World Series, five more than any other matchup. But they haven't squared off in the Fall Classic since 1981.
