The Yankees have been on a disastrous slide over the past couple of weeks, but they have a secret weapon up their sleeves.
George Costanza, the team's assistant to the traveling secretary from the sitcom Seinfeld, might be just who New York needs to solve its issues. His expertise in batting practice can spark the Yankees' bats like no other coach.
Jokes aside, the Yankees are giving away a Costanza bobblehead to the first 18,000 fans in attendance at Yankee Stadium on July 5. New York is hosting the Boston Red Sox on Seinfeld Night.

It's neither the first nor last bobblehead promotion that the Yankees will do, but it is the first time Costanza — or any Seinfeld character for that matter — has been featured.
The Sporting News breaks down why the Yankees chose to honor the sitcom character.

Why the Yankees are giving away George Costanza bobbleheads
For those who haven't watched Seinfeld, Costanza earns the role of assistant to the traveling secretary with the New York Yankees. His role, while insignificant compared to the late owner George Steinbrenner, had him in many scenes regarding the New York club.
The show connected Seinfeld fans to the baseball world with cameos from former Yankees manager Buck Showalter, Derek Jeter, Paul O'Neill and Bernie Williams.
Costanza gave batting tips to Jeter and Williams in one episode as the assistant to the traveling secretary slammed three home runs in a row.
Costanza took his swing at uniform changes as well. He convinced Showalter to change the material from polyester to cotton.
"Imagine playing games and your team is five degrees cooler than the other team," Costanza said. "Don't you think that would be an advantage?"
Costanza managed to get the jerseys changed to cotton. The results? Pitiful.
These were just two of Costanza's moments with the Yankees in Seinfeld. The show, while not baseball-driven, had its scenes with both New York clubs.
Because of Costanza's gig with the Yankees, the ball club is honoring the fictional character with a bobblehead on Seinfeld Night. The first 18,000 fans in attendance at Yankees Stadium will receive the figurine.
