The Preakness Stakes is set to be run for the 147th time on Saturday, and the field is as wide-open in 2022 as it was in 2021.

For the second consecutive year, the winner of the Kentucky Derby will not be running the Preakness Stakes. In 2021, Medina Spirit won the Derby, but was later stripped of the title after testing positive for an anti-inflammatory steroid. Mandaloun was declared the winner of the Kentucky Derby, and he didn't run in the Preakness.

The circumstances in 2022 are a bit simpler. Mega-longshot Rich Strike won the Derby, but his racing team is holding him out of the Preakness to prepare for the Belmont Stakes. Rich Strike had been an 11th-hour entry into the Derby, so the team had to make plans for him to race quickly.

So, the Preakness winner will not be the same as the Derby winner, but there are still plenty of quality racehorses in the field. Epicenter and Simplification — two Derby stars — will be among the cream of the crop in this race while Early Voting and filly Secret Oath will look to challenge them for the victory.

Here's everything to know about how to watch the Preakness Stakes in 2022, including the live stream options and post time.
