This is going to be a good one. The 2024 NCAA volleyball season continues its blockbuster opening week with a Big Ten-SEC crossover as Tennessee hosts Penn State.
Both the Vols and Nittany Lions lost in the NCAA regional semifinals in 2023 and are looking to make waves this season among their new and improved conferences. It won't come easy, but it'll prepare them come the postseason in December.
No. 7 Penn State has a shot at returning to Big Ten glory will the return of Jess Mruzik, Taylor Trammel and the addition of some top freshmen. And we all know that if you can survive Big Ten volleyball, you can make it anywhere.
Meanwhile, the No. 15 Vols will have to learn quick to replace hitters Morgahn Fingall and Erykah Lovett. It shouldn't be too hard with the return of all-conference setter Caroline Kerr and addition of Nebraska transfer Hayden Kubik. The SEC is up for grabs, and Tennessee has a chance at sneaking to the top of the standings come conference play.
