Riding on an unbeaten run, Inter Milan will make their trip to Switzerland in pursuit of easy three points. Meanwhile, Young Boys will aim to open their account in the Champions League 2024-25 after two disastrous performances.

The hosts are set to play their first-ever fixture against Inter but the Swiss giants are coming into the game on the back of two defeats in the Champions League. They conceded eight goals so far, including five against Barcelona recently.

Inter Milan, on the other hand, started the campaign with a draw against Man City last month. However, they secured the first win of the season against Red Star Belgrade at San Siro. With four points in two games, the Serie A giants would look to ensure one more win to climb up in the overall standings.

Simone Inzaghi’s men have kept four clean sheets in the last five games and lost just one encounter in 10 fixtures this season. They enter the UCL fixture following a close win over Roma.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times, and the latest lineup news.

Young Boys vs. Inter Milan predicted lineups, team news

Young Boys will be without several key players due to injury ahead of their upcoming match against Inter Milan. Defenders Saidy Janko (muscle), Patric Pfeiffer (knee), and Tanguy Zoukrou (hip) have all been ruled out for Wednesday's game, leaving the Swiss team with limited options at the back.

Despite these absences, interim coach Joel Magnin still has attacking firepower to call upon. Joel Monteiro remains their most effective player this season, and the Swiss winger, along with Cedric Itten, found the back of the net in their recent win over Luzern.

Young Boys predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Van Ballmoos (GK) — Athekame, Camara, Benito, Hadjam — Niasse, Lakomy — Monteiro, Ugrinic, Colley — Itten.

Injured: Janko, Pfeiffer, Zoukrou
Suspended: None

Following their gritty win over AS Roma on Sunday, Inter Milan are facing injury concerns as they prepare for their Champions League clash against Young Boys. Both Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi appear to have sustained muscular issues, which could see Calhanoglu miss the midweek trip to Switzerland.

Coach Simone Inzaghi is also anxiously awaiting fitness updates on midfielders Kristjan Asllani and Piotr Zielinski, both of whom are key as Inter also look ahead to Sunday’s eagerly awaited Derby d’Italia against Juventus.

With the packed fixture list, Inzaghi may opt to shuffle his attacking options once again. Either Mehdi Taremi or Marko Arnautovic could be given the nod to start alongside captain Lautaro Martinez, offering some fresh legs up front.

Inter Milan predicted XI (3-5-2, right to left): Sommer (GK) — Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni — Dumfries, Frattesi, Barella, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco — Martinez, Taremi.

Injured: Calhanoglu, Acerbi, Asllani, Zielinski
Suspended: None

Young Boys vs. Inter Milan Prediction

Given their current form and wealth of experience, Inter Milan enter this contest as the firm favorites. Simone Inzaghi's men have demonstrated strong defensive discipline in Europe, and their game management skills should allow them to set the pace against a struggling Young Boys side.

The Swiss champions have shown little to suggest they can pull off a shock result, and their porous defense is likely to be exploited by Inter's sharp attacking unit.

While Young Boys might offer some resistance on home turf, the gulf in quality between the two squads is apparent. It’s hard to envision the hosts avoiding another defeat. Inter's ability to strike early and control the game through their midfield dominance should guide them to a comfortable victory.

  • Prediction: Young Boys 0-3 Inter Milan
