Is Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Joshua 2 on DAZN in the UK? Why Sky Sports Box Office has 2022 boxing fight image

In June 2022, former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua signed a long-term agreement said to be worth around £86.4m ($100m) with broadcasters DAZN.

The Londoner's attempt to reclaim his former titles from Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia is a blockbuster way for the contract to commence.

Despite his dazzlingly lucrative deal with DAZN, negotiations took place earlier this year for the right to show the bout in the UK.

Where can UK fans watch the fight, and will DAZN be showing the action from the Jeddah Super Dome? The Sporting News has the details.

Is Usyk vs. Joshua 2 on DAZN in the UK?

DAZN will show the fight in numerous countries except the UK, and it is also a rare occurrence in which a DAZN fight between two heavyweights will not be on DAZN PPV elsewhere.

Initially, DAZN said that PPV was a broken model in boxing. When Canelo Alvarez's fight with Dmitry Bivol was shown on PPV in May, DAZN went on to say: “For the very occasional events such as this that necessitate PPV, we now have the flexibility to explore fighters, mega fights & innovative partnerships previously impossible.”

DAZN will be showing the fight in countries such as the US, Canada and Australia.

Why is Usyk vs. Joshua 2 on Sky Sports Box Office?

The bidding contest for the UK rights reached more than £23.7m ($28m) in July, Telegraph Sport reported at the time.

The BBC was also said to have offered a lower amount for the fight. Joshua left Sky Sports when he joined DAZN.

The Telegraph said that Sky launched an "aggressive campaign" to secure the rights because of Joshua's selling power in the UK. He is the sport's second biggest pay-per-view star in the world behind Alvarez.
