More than six years after they first met for a European belt, Derek Chisora and Kubrat Pulev are about to fight again in a non-title clash at London's O2 Arena on July 9.

Dubbed 'Total Carnage', the heavyweight showdown will give Briton Chisora a shot at revenge for his points defeat when the rivals fought in Hamburg.

Chisora is aiming to end a run of three straight losses after following up his points defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in 2020 with successive setbacks on the scorecards against Joseph Parker in 2021.

What is Pulev's record? How does he measure up to Chisora? The Sporting News takes a look at the hard-hitting Bulgarian.

Who is Kubrat Pulev?

A European amateur champion in 2004 and 2008, Pulev won a string of medals outside the pros, including gold at super-heavyweight.

Entering the fully-fledged ranks reasonably late, Pulev was 28 when he made his professional debut and went on to win all of his first 14 fights across little more than two years.

The Sofia-born slugger claimed the IBF International heavyweight title by beating Travis Walker in that 14th bout, then collected the European Heavyweight belt against Alexander Dimitrenko less than seven months later.

Pulev's two career losses have come in world title fights, suffering knockout defeats against Wladimir Klitschko in November 2014 and Anthony Joshua on his sole previous visit to London, in December 2020.

The 41-year-old's reach of nearly 80 inches is almost six more than Chisora's, and his 6ft 4in frame gives him a two-and-a-half inch height advantage in the fight.

Chisora has lost 11 of his 43 bouts aside from facing Pulev, including two defeats to current WBC champion Tyson Fury and two against Dillian Whyte, who was knocked out by Fury in April. His opponent has 29 wins, 14 of which came by knockout.
