Denver Broncos day 2 mock draft: What does team do with next two picks? image

The Denver Broncos added a major piece to an already strong defense in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, grabbing Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron.

What will the team do for an encore after selecting the Jim Thorpe Award? The prevailing thought is that the team needs to get some impact offensive players to build around Bo Nix. Luckily, this draft has plenty of options in that area.

Using the mock draft simulator offered by Pro Football Focus, I put together this mock draft for Friday night's action. Taking into consideration the picks that were already made in round one, here is what the Broncos were able to come up with.

Denver Broncos second and third-round mock draft

Round 2, Pick No. 51: Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa

The Broncos should target a running back in round two and it seems that there are three good, interchangeable options in Kaleb Johnson, TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. The Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys — two running back-needy teams — both select ahead of the Broncos, and the Bears will pick twice before them.

One would have to assume that at least one of these three running backs will be off the board by the time Denver gets another chance to make a pick. In this case, Iowa's Kaleb Johnson was the choice.

Johnson is a powerful and aggressive running back with legit RB1 potential. His power is remarkable but his vision through running lanes should not be overlooked. He has a nose for the end zone and his strength does not diminish as the game wears on, in fact, it probably increases.

Round 3, Pick No. 85: Elic Ayomanor, WR, Stanford

In round three, the Broncos get a tough, physical wide receiver who can mirror Courtland Sutton on the opposite side of the field, helping to open lanes over the middle for Evan Engram and Marvin Mims Jr.

Sean Payton likes big receivers who can go up and make plays above the rim, and that is Ayomanor's game. If you're a fan of the Colorado Buffaloes and watched him catch 13 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns, with some of those plays coming against Travis Hunter, in October 2023, you know how good this guy is.
