Steve Sarkisian is stoked to have Texas A&M back by joining the SEC. Jim Schlossnagle probably is not.
After the Texas A&M Aggies emotional 6-5 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers in the decisive Game 3 Men’s College World Series Championship Finals, head coach Schlossnagle shamed a reporter when he was asked whether or not he was staying with the Aggies.
“I left my family to be the coach at Texas A&M. I took the job at Texas A&M to never take another job again.”

Ouch. That’s a tough one for the 12th Man.
Bolting for other schools is something that head coaches do all the time, especially in the cutthroat world of SEC college football. And now it looks like men’s baseball is joining the ranks.

It’s not so much that the 53 year old is going to the Aggies hated rival, the Texas Longhorns. It’s more so what he said that is the salt in the wound. He could have given any answer that gave him a little wiggle room, but he chose to double down, opening his answer to the reporter, “I think it’s pretty selfish of you to ask me that question to be honest with you.”
Schlossnagle gave a statement after the announcement, but the damage had already been done. Judging by the reactions of Aggie fans, they are understandably perturbed. Of course Ole Miss Rebels head coach and SEC Twitter troll king Lane Kiffin retweeted the Barstool Sports post. (Let’s also not forget that earlier in the week, the then Aggies head coach showed pure class apologizing for the antics of two Aggie hooligans that got ejected for allegedly awful taunting.)

Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian travel to Kyle Field Nov. 30 to take on Texas A&M and first-year head coach Mike Elko in an epic return of the Lone Star Showdown. We doubt Schlossnagle will be in attendance.
