The Pittsburgh Steelers made a huge trade this offseason, bringing in DK Metcalf from the Seahawks.
They subsequently signed Metcalf to a huge contract. It put a bit of a question out there as far as the future of their already established star wide receiver, George Pickens, who has yet to be given a new contract.
Pickens name has floated just under the surface as a lowkey trade possibility this offseason.
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox makes the case that it's time for Pittsburgh to consider trading Pickens for real.
And Knox's pitched destination is beautifully ironic: Seattle.
"Pickens has largely filled the Steelers' No. 1 receiver role over the past three seasons," Knox writes. "However, Metcalf should come in as the new top target, while Pickens heads into a contract year without a new deal. The Steelers are unlikely to pay both receivers top-of-the-market value, which could lead to Pickens' departure sooner than later."

NFL Network's James Palmer recently said that Pickens' time in Pittsburgh may be "limited."
Here's how Knox lays out the Seahawks case:
"Ironically, the Seahawks could be among those teams. Seattle added Kupp but traded Metcalf and released Tyler Lockett. They could use another receiver to help support new quarterback Sam Darnold. Receivers coach Frisman Jackson held the same position in Pittsburgh in 2023—which was Pickens' only 1,000-yard campaign to date."
Makes a lot of sense, really.
Sam Darnold would enjoy throwing to Pickens up in the Pacific Northwest.
It just might leave the Steelers a little thin if Aaron Rodgers decides to come to town. But Pittsburgh has to make the money work out somehow.
