The struggles of Tennessee Titans QB Will Levis were well-documented early on in the 2024 season, when he threw seven interceptions in his first five games.
Yet ever so quietly, Levis has shown some significant improvement as of late.
In his four games since returning to the Titans' lineup following an injury and benching, Levis has thrown for seven touchdowns and only two picks. He's averaging 240 passing yards per game and a passer rating of 105 during that span.
Despite his team's continued struggles, Levis is looking like the player he was touted as entering the 2023 NFL Draft. Though a second-round pick, Levis was considered a first-round talent and showed plenty of flashes of that potential during his rookie season.
Still, for a Tennessee Titans team that will likely possess a high draft pick in 2025, there is a dilemma here. With quarterbacks such as Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders and Quinn Ewers on the board, has Levis done enough to regain the organization's trust as its quarterback of the future?
That answer may lie in how Levis performs for the 2024 season's final five games. Tennessee has a favorable schedule to close out the year, playing only one more team with a winning record -- and that team is the Houston Texans in Week 18, who could very well have nothing to play for in that game.
The opportunity is there for Levis to build on his strong play in recent weeks, and perhaps help the Titans grab enough wins that none of the top QBs in the class would be available for them anyway. If that ends up being the case, the Titans should give Levis at least one more year and focus on putting weapons around him.
As has been additionally shown this season with fellow second-year starters in Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson, it often takes time and patience to develop a franchise quarterback. As long as Levis can continue to show down the stretch that he's making progress, then he has earned that patience from the Titans.
