Will the Los Angeles Lakers draft Bronny James to keep his father, LeBron, for at least another season?

DraftKings is taking at least part of that action, hanging Bronny James NBA Draft odds, with the Lakers as the favorite at +190.

Bronny recently finished his freshman season at USC and declared for the draft, while also leaving open the option to go back to school or even enter the Transfer Portal. While he's not considered a top prospect this year, his father's influence and the chance of getting the Jameses in a package deal will be a big talking point leading up to the draft.

Now, at DraftKings, you can put some money on how you think it will unfold.

Did Bronny James enter the 2024 NBA Draft?

Bronny James has entered his name in the draft pool, making him eligible to be selected, although his ranking among prospects would indicate that he'd be on the bubble of being picked at all during the two rounds.

His freshman season was spent mostly as a reserve at USC, as he was coming back from cardiac arrest suffered at an offseason workout. He averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in just under 20 minutes per game for the Trojans.

He's considered outside the top 50 prospects in this year's draft, which should be expected for a freshman who had to endure what he did to simply get back onto the court.

Will the Lakers draft Bronny James?

But he's also LeBron James' son, and LeBron has openly stated that he would like them to play together in the NBA.

The question now is whether the Lakers believe it's worth taking a risk in order to keep LeBron -- who will turn 40 midway through next season -- happy and on the roster. If they stay put at their current draft spot of 55, however, is it even a risk? Most late second round picks are a flyer anyway, and very few would result in the signing of the biggest name in the sport.

It does appear, though, they're considering it, as LeBron has a player option on his contract for the 2024-25 season.

Will LeBron play for whatever team drafts Bronny?

What if someone else drafts Bronny James?

At that point, they may be going off the assumption that drafting Bronny would equal at least one year of LeBron.

For some teams near contending -- and with a lot of cap space -- that might be worth it. Again, the Lakers don't pick until No. 55, so the No. 54 pick could cause quite the trading frenzy for GMs.

Drafting Bronny could also give a team a valuable trade chip in a potential deal with the Lakers.
