The Golden State Warriors could use some more defensive versatility, particularly in the frontcourt.

Switchable defenders are the name of the game in the modern NBA, and while the Warriors aren’t that big of a team, they might be able to ride Stephen Curry deep into the playoffs if their wings and bigs can multi-task defensively.

Draymond Green has been fulfilling such a role for years, and he has four titles to show for it.

Golden State would love to add a traditional, seven-foot center to their rotation, but if they fall short of such an aspiration, a guy like Larry Nance Jr. (currently with the Atlanta Hawks) would be an excellent addition for the above reasons.

At 31, Nance Jr. is still in his athletic prime. He’s strong enough to bang with bigger bodies down low and nimble-footed enough to switch onto fast-twitch wings on the perimeter when necessary. He’s also an ever-dangerous lob threat on offense.

ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel recently linked Nance Jr. to the Warriors in a potential trade.

“Isaiah Stewart, Larry Nance Jr., and (Nikola) Vucevic are interesting names expected to hear their names on the trade block between now and February,” Siegel said.

“Nance, a respected veteran around the league, brings toughness and leadership at the power forward position, and he is only making $11.2 million in the final year of his contract.”

Should Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. inquire with Atlanta about Nance?
